Robasauras

Those of you who know me know that I have been around for a good long time. You might consider me as being"old school" but time races on and with it comes a multitude of new ways, new inventions and a whole new way of life. Some of these new ways were met with a bit of resistance on my part, but I never want to be too out of touch. As of late I have tried to update myself,I carry a cell phone at all times but they are such a far cry from the rotary party line phones that I grew up with.At first it was the old Omnipoint phone complete with a SIM card, never knew what it's function was,but if I pressed the right numbers and I happened to be in just the right area the call would sometimes go through.Being a truckdriver hundreds of miles away from home and family it gave me a warm feeling that I theoretically might be able to be in contact with loved ones at anytime.Coverage in those days was a crapshoot because back then you could look up at the sky or a church steeple without being visually assaulted by a multitude of cell phone towers.Ten or twelve phones later, and just as many providers and service plans,I am now the somewhat proud baffled owner of an LG envy.Being that it is only midrange at best as far as technology goes it wont cook my dinner or do my laundry but now the world wide web and music, video and picture downloads are just a touchscreen away.Boy oh boy do I feel "connected".Considering that I can only type with the tip of one finger it's amazing that I am now able to find out the temperature in New Delhi in a matter of minutes.LG was nice enough to throw in two thick instruction manuals, usb cables, memory card and all sorts of good stuff that's supposed to make my life better. If only I could decipher the incredible amount of things I can do with this device but I'm a guy, directions are for the weak. Two days of trial and error later possibilities are beginning to unfold and I can now 'ET phone home' without even touching the dial.Speaking clear and slow I simply tell this phone who I wish to speak with and voila it's on,and if someone has the need to speak with me,they are announced in a feminine, nasally machine like voice before the phone even plays me a snippet of any song that I can figure out how to download.Wonder why they call it a ringtone when nothing rings, unless of course I spend another hour and try to find "Tubular Bells".Used to be that I had to sit in front of my big ole Dell to rant on like this, but now with my new laptop I can be in touch with the whole world while sitting on a bidet or in the tub or even at the pool.Ted Turner got nothing on me I own my own network too and he doesn't have the password. If this dinosoaur can figure out the right cable setup, then all that music that I-Tunes somehow put in my mini little I-pod then into my laptop will be travelling with me forever with my multi-media device. There's some heavy words for an oldie like me but I guess I don't have to understand it all,I just have to hit all the right buttons.Well that's enough rambling for now I have to end this and concentrate on the manual to see if Envy will wash my back in the shower.Good-bye world will catch up with you later.
